midTECH IT Summit

Why is it that everyone speaks about the end game of the cloud? IBM, in its keynote address this morning at the midTECH Mid Market IT Summit, fell into the common trap of speaking about the cloud opportunity with a small honorable mention about the steps for consideration. I liken this approach to driving down the road at 65 while attempting to change your tires. It just can't be done. There is a very specific process for changing tires and there is very little deviation. Much the same can be said about the cloud. First and foremost; does the cloud really make sense for your company? What areas make sense to take to the cloud and can you really do it? How will it affect process and how will I get there? Making a decision to go to the cloud can have great benefits, but remember - measure twice, cut once in the words of a carpenter......
